Acute Eczema

Eczema has three stages, all of which are represented here. In the acute stage there is vesiculation, in the subacute stage glistening of serum and red papulovesicles and in the chronic stage redness, dryness and scaling.
In the acute stages, there is marked oedema between and within the epidermal cells which is manifest clinically as vesicles and bullae as in this patient with an acute podopompholyx.
