Spitz naevus
This lesion is benign but is very dark in colour, although not black
enough to constitute a real worry. Excision is often performed
because of doubt as to its nature. A Spitz naevus is a histological
diagnosis. It is a compound naevus with a somewhat pleomorphic appearance,
but has striking symmetry and the cells are epithelioid or spindly with an
abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm.
